‘Krampus’: Michael Dougherty Looks Back at the Perchta Animatronic Monster!

Officially a holiday classic, Trick ‘r Treat director Michael Dougherty gifted us with the Christmas-set horror Krampus, in which a boy accidentally summons a festive demon to his family home. It starred Hereditary‘sToni Collette with Adam Scott and David Koechner.

In the past, Dougherty has shared never-before-seen concept art of the title character, while today he offers up another present, a behind the scenes look at the creation of Perchta the Christmas Cherub for Krampus.

The monster was designed by Miguel Ortega & Tran Ma and brought to life by the magicians of Weta Workshop and Emersen Ziffle.

“There’s nothing like the thrill of creating an animatronic monster and using it to attack Academy Award nominee Toni Collette,” jokes Dougherty.
