Dave Bautista Shares Honest Thoughts About How Drax’s Storyline Played Out With Thanos

Well, that was certainly honest. Dave Bautista brings a ton of spirit and enthusiasm to his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he’s also known to criticize the studio on occasion. And when it comes to how Drax’s story with Thanos ultimately played out on the big screen, it seems Bautista wanted more for his signature character.

Dave Bautista’s comments come from the wrestler turned actor’s personal Twitter account. Bautista is super active on social media, helping to offer a peek behind the curtain on projects like Guardians of the Galaxy and Netflix’s Army of the Dead. He’s got a number of future performances as Drax coming, but the lack of Thanos-related closure is seemingly weighing on the fan favorite actor.

Marvel fans can re-watch Dave Bautista’s time in the MCU so far on Disney+. You can use this link to sign up for the streaming service.

For those who don’t remember, Drax only had a few brief interactions with Thanos throughout the course of Avengers: Infinity War— and there wasn’t any at all during Endgame. And while Drax fought the Mad Titan, they didn’t actually share any real dialogue. Ultimately Thanos would perish (twice) without Drax getting the closure he seemingly needed.

While we never got to see Drax and Thanos really have it out, perhaps this will be rectified in the Guardians of the Galaxy’s upcoming appearances in the MCU. First they’ll pop up in Thor: Love and Thunder, before eventually getting starring appearances in both Guardians Vo. 3 and the mysterious Guardians Holiday special. Given these myriad projects, maybe Drax’s unresolved issues with the Mad Titan will be addressed. Fingers crossed.

The next installment in the MCU is Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on September 3rd. In the meantime, check out the 2021 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience.
