Eric Church, Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Morgan Wallen also on the lineup for California’s country music festival
The one thing country fans all want is for Post Malone to record and release a country music album. For now, we’ll settle for the next best thing: Posty crooning his way through a set of country covers at the 2024 Stagecoach Festival.
Set for April 26 through 28 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California (the site of Coachella), Stagecoach announced its 2024 lineup today. Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, and Morgan Wallen will each headline a night, with Post Malone slated to play his covers set on Saturday, the 27th, a day that also includes Willie Nelson, Leon Bridges, Charley Crockett, Luke Grimes, and Texas stalwarts Asleep at the Wheel on the bill.
Post Malone — who almost collaborated with Bob Dylan — isn’t shy about his love of country music and has covered a bunch of classic country songs and mainstream hits throughout his career. Among them: Brad Paisley’s “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song),” Hank Williams’ “There’s a Tear in My Beer,” and Sturgill Simpson’s “You Can Have the Crown.” He also recorded a version of Hootie & the Blowfish’s country-adjacent “Only Wanna Be With You” for a Pokémon tribute and joined Billy Strings onstage last year to roar through Johnny Cash’s “Cocaine Blues.” (His recent NPR Tiny Desk concert showcased Posty’s rootsier side.)
Stagecoach has a reputation for booking artists outside of the country sphere. This year, the festival has the Beach Boys (Mike Love’s version, presumably) on the lineup, along with Nickelback, Diplo, and Wiz Khalifa playing late-night sets. Música Mexicana star Carín León is high up on the lineup on Friday, too.
Passes for Stagecoach 2024 go on sale Friday, September 15, at 11 a.m./PT.
