’30 Days of Night’ Writer Steve Niles Launches Monster Forge Productions for Film Projects and Beyond

Known for writing the 30 Days of Night comic series, horror creator Steve Niles is continuing his work in the genre by launching Monster Forge Productions, THR reports tonight.

Niles has partnered with Shannon Eric Denton to launch the company, which has its sights set on “a spectrum of horror properties, ranging from light monster fare for children to full-blown adult scares.” The report from THR also notes, “Monster Forge enters the entertainment space with a multi-platform production division bringing their monstrous library of titles and creator relationships to film, television, interactive entertainment, gaming, and merchandising.”

“Comics, animation, games, and toys have grown into a cultural phenomenon over the past two decades — especially for younger generations,” Niles said in a statement shared by THR. “Monster Forge will build a bridge from our own creations and those of like-minded creators’ works to film, TV, toys, games, and beyond.”

“Horror, sci-fi, kids’ animation, Hammer films, black-and-white creature features, and modern VFX-driven genre fun is all the stuff we love and what this company is all about,” said Denton. “Some folks may hear ‘monster’ and conjure up a limited definition, but Steve and I hear that word and our minds race from Marvel’s live-action Thanos to last year’s Invisible Man to Pacific Rim to Minions to Star Wars. For us, it’s a word that leads to the beyond.”
