IDLES Cover Sharon Van Etten’s ‘Peace Signs’

IDLES have shared a cover of Sharon Van Etten‘s ‘Peace Signs’. The track is taken from the upcoming double album epic Ten, which celebrates the 10th anniversary of Van Etten’s sophomore album with covers from Fiona Apple, Lucinda Williams, Big Red Machine, and many others. Hear IDLES’ take on ‘Peace Signs’ below.

“@sharonvanhalen is one of the greatest songwriters on earth, to be allowed anywhere near her songs is a great and unexpected privilege,” IDLES wrote on Instagram ahead of the track’s release. “We learned a lot about true songwriting by trying to cover ‘Peace Signs.’ We hope it does some justice to the original.” In the comments, Van Etten responded, “You all were so kind to me when I was missing my family the most on tour. You know the grind. Your spirits lifted me and help me keep going and I will never forget that. Your performances were so inspiring and it means the world you wanted to cover my song. I wish I could do what you do. So much love. X”

epic Ten arrives digitally April 6 and physically June 11 via Ba Da Bing. According to last week’s announcement, Van Etten will share a new cover from the record each Thursday up until the album’s release. Previously, we heard Big Red Machine’s (the duo of Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and The National’s Aaron Dessner) rendition of ‘A Crime’.

IDLES’ most recent album was last year’s Ultra Mono.
