The most-recognized acts at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards are those bringing a fresh perspective to country music.
The awards show, now in its second year, dropped its nominees list on Wednesday (Aug. 14). The most nominated acts this year are Zach Bryan, Beyoncé, Kacey Musgraves and Shaboozey — all relative newcomers to the genre, or artists whose work was historically included genre boundary-pushing or experimentation.
More established mainstream country stalwarts like Jason Aldean and Blake Shelton are featured on the nominees list, but they don’t appear in its top categories. Instead, the highest billing goes to artists whose catalogs have redefined what country music means, including Jelly Roll, Kane Brown and Morgan Wallen. The top contenders who are traditional-leaning, like Luke Combs and Lainey Wilson, are those who are undeniably at the top of their game in 2024.
