On Wednesdays, We Wear Ink: New Manga for July-September 2025

This is a collection of historical manga, about master craftsmen and the heart and soul that they put into the works that they create. Sounds relaxing! This won the 2024 New Creator Prize at the 28th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize.

Four roommates in their late 20s in Tokyo are at the heart of this new series. Friends Shuuko, Eika, Misaki, and Shioshare an apartment and help each other through the ups and downs of life, as they all work out what it is they want.

Teenager Itou has never felt like she fits in with her peers, and she’s a bit jealous of her classmate Takahashi, who seems so effortlessly cool. Then Itou sees Takahashi eat someone, and realizes she’s a monster. And if a monster has figured out how to blend in with the humans, then Itou thinks she definitely needs to be her friend and take lessons!

In this new series, Natori Midori is adrift after being fired from her mundane office job. To combat her blues, she takes up the video game Fairy Tale of Jewels, and finds herself working for the game’s big bad, Lapis Tenebrae, after she’s somehow literally transported into her world.

For fans of romantic comedy: When Kotaki Yumeji’s childhood friend Chieri Omine returns to his school, it is expected that she would have changed after many years. What Kotaki didn’t expect is that Chieri is now eight meters tall! As the two reunite and catch feelings, their relationship will be one for the books.

There’s no bowl full of jelly on this St. Nick, just washboard abs. And he’s lost his shirt? It’s actually a Christmas adventure, about Sanda Kazushige, a middle-school student, who helps another student find their missing friend after it appears Sanda might hold the answers to the disappearance.

And who doesn’t want to read manga about a vampire with eyes the color of rocket pops? Leo is the heir to his family and must navigate the turf war between the vampires and demi-humans, and bring about peace, in order to prove he is worthy of being in charge. But it won’t be easy when he doesn’t know who he can trust.

And last, but not least, this new deluxe English-language omnibus edition collects the first three volumes of the classic manga Cat’s Eye. It’s about three sisters who own a café and are also art thieves, and the works of the mysterious painter Heinz that they are determined to steal. What the world doesn’t know is that Heinz is their father—and he’s missing.
