TRAILER DROPS FOR SUBJUGATION: A VISCERAL, PRACTICAL FX SCI-FI HORROR EXPERIENCE FROM THE CREATOR OF BAKEMONO

The official trailer for SUBJUGATION has arrived, an upcoming cyberpunk monster movie that merges the gothic vengeance of The Crow with the grotesque, biomechanical body horror of the anime classic Wicked City. Spearheaded by director Doug Roos (Bakemono) and executive producer Jun’ichi Yamamoto (Meatball Machine), the film is a blood-soaked love letter to classic late-80s and 90s practical effects cinema.

Synopsis: Beneath the glossy exterior of Japanese society, they pull the strings of everything. Rich powerful men who can transform into monsters at will and brainwash others with their insidious signal. In this not-too-distant future, more and more women are stalked and murdered until Tokyo’s streets reek of death.

SUBJUGATION features an exceptional ensemble cast tracking Tokyo’s descent into madness, starring Karen Yoshida, Tsukasa, Atsuto Fujita, Ai Tatsuzawa, Takuto Nakamura, and Motomasa Okui.

Director Doug Roos returns to the realm of tactile nightmare fuel. Following his work on Bakemono, Roos doubles down on practical effects, physical creature suits, and atmospheric dread.

Known for work in the cyberpunk body-horror genre, Jun’ichi Yamamoto, director of Meatball Machine, brings his creative vision and experience in high-octane practical effects to the project as Executive Producer.

There is an official crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, offering hardcore genre fans the chance to back the project and secure an exclusive, unrated crowdfunding-only cut of the film packed with bonus practical FX, explicit sequences, and a region-free Blu-ray.
