From the team behind Hulu’s Run along with producer Matt Reeves (The Batman) comes HBO Max‘s “The Future,” a sci-fi series just announced by Deadline this afternoon.

The one-hour series, currently in development, is written by Dan Frey and is said to be “told through an innovative multimedia style that’s never been seen on TV.”

Deadline details, “The Future is the story of two best friends who invent the most revolutionary technological device in modern human history. It’s a sci-fi series set in the Silicon Valley of today, grappling with pressing questions about our relationship with technology, told through an innovative multimedia style that’s never been seen on TV.”

Annesh Chaganty (Searching, Run) is directing the series, and producers include Matt Reeves alongside Natalie Qasabian and Sev Ohanian, as well as Warner Bros. TV.

“The Future” is based on Frey’s upcoming novel The Future is Yours.
