Kato Kaelin Enters the Nightmare in Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light

As independent horror continues to build momentum, Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light just added another unexpected name to its growing cast lineup. Reality television icon and media personality Kato Kaelin has officially joined the upcoming found footage horror film in a role that places him at the center of the movie’s terrifying presentation.

Kaelin will host a live special edition of Murder in a Minute, a late-night true crime broadcast that airs the recovered footage connected to the mysterious disappearance of William Spanner, Keli Jordan, and the rest of the team from the television series Unmasking the Paranormal. Neither Kaelin nor the viewers watching the broadcast have ever seen the footage before, causing the terror and reactions unfolding throughout the film to happen completely in real time.

As the broadcast continues, what begins as a sensationalized exposé quickly spirals into something far more disturbing. The recovered footage reveals the existence of The Children of the Hollow, a brutal cult tied to an ancient cursed lantern known as The Lanterne of Light. Strange interruptions and increasingly panicked reactions from viewers blur the line between entertainment and genuine supernatural terror.

Directed by Carissa Pierson, Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light aims to combine psychological dread, occult mythology, and immersive found footage storytelling into a uniquely structured horror experience. By framing the movie through a live television event, the filmmakers hope to create the feeling that audiences are witnessing forbidden footage unfold alongside the characters reacting onscreen.

“We wanted the audience to feel like they’re watching something they were never supposed to see,” said Pierson. “Kato’s role brings an unsettling realism to the film because the horror is unfolding live in front of everyone. It turns the audience into part of the experience.”

The growing cast also includes:

Andrew Pierson of Return of the Living Dead: Trash’s Revenge, A Soldier’s Descent, and Witchcraft: The Initiation
Kristina Lafser of A Soldier’s Descent, The Last Sleepover, and Haunted House of Pancakes
Lisa Wilcox of A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master and A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child
Sandy Johnson best known for playing Judith Myers in Halloween
Kaelin’s involvement adds another unexpected layer to a project already building buzz within the indie horror community. With its blend of live-broadcast tension, cult mythology, and immersive found footage horror, Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light is shaping up to be an ambitious modern entry into the genre.

More casting announcements, production updates, and crowdfunding news are expected soon.
