New Horror Film DEAD afterlife Announced from the Creator of Marketing Macabre | HNN

Michael Joy, the mastermind behind the premier horror publicity firm Marketing Macabre, has officially announced his transition from promoter to producer with the upcoming zombie / ghost mash-up, DEAD afterlife.

Known for launching the careers of independent filmmakers through his unique PR strategies, Joy is now applying those same macabre sensibilities to his own feature film.

“I’ve spent the last decade helping other horror creators find their audience” says Michael Joy. “With DEAD afterlife, I’m finally bringing my own disturbing visions to life, and offering proof that true originality is not dead. ”

The project is currently in its final funding phase via Kickstarter, offering fans a chance to be part of the film through exclusive perks like on-screen deaths and professional publicity packages.

DEAD afterlife follows the bizarre and horrific predicament of Donald Conlee, a pharmaceutical scientist who is murdered and then administered his own experimental “Awake” super-drug. Donald’s ghost watches his own funeral, only to see his reanimated zombie body climb out of the coffin and begin attacking his friends and family.

Official casting announcements is scheduled for May 2026, with principal photography set to begin this fall in Camden County, New Jersey.
