SCREAMIFY LAUNCHES AUTONOMOUS: THE GROUNDBREAKING VERTICAL HORROR THRILLER SHOT ENTIRELY INSIDE A REAL SELF-DRIVING CAR

Screamify, the premier destination for short-form horror, officially announced the release of its latest micro-series, AUTONOMOUS. Produced by Big Squid Productions, the innovative 16-episode vertical thriller delivers high-tension survival horror tailored specifically for mobile viewing.

Directed by Kyle Valle and starring Erin Áine and Domenic Jungling, AUTONOMOUS transforms a routine commute into a claustrophobic nightmare. To achieve unparalleled realism, the production bypassed traditional studio sets. Filmmakers shot the entire project inside an actual operating autonomous vehicle, trapping the actors—and the audience—in a real-world tech bubble gone wrong.

Screamify has premiered AUTONOMOUS, an original Micro Horrors™ series from filmmaking duo Kyle Valle and Erin Áine of Big Squid Productions. Across 16 short, vertical episodes that play as one continuous ride, Amy (Erin Áine) and Derek (Domenic Jungling) climb into a self-driving rideshare for the long trip home from his parents’.

What begins as a familiar argument — his career lost to AI, the money they don’t have, the texts she won’t explain — turns to something far worse when the car refuses to change its route, a figure appears in the road, and the calm in-cabin voice insists: “Your safety is our priority.” It lands as autonomous vehicles move further into everyday life, and asks how much control we’re quietly handing over.

“We wanted to weaponize the everyday anxiety of surrendering control to technology,” says Director Kyle Valle. “Shooting in a real self-driving car wasn’t just a gimmick; it forced a raw, visceral claustrophobia that leaps right off the smartphone screen.”

AUTONOMOUS is available to stream immediately. Viewers can watch the complete series by downloading the Screamify app on iOS and Android devices.
