‘Silent Hill’ Publisher Konami Enters a Strategic Partnership With ‘The Medium’ Developer Bloober Team

Could it truly be that Polish developer Bloober Team’s The Medium was an audition for making a Silent Hill game for Konami after all? The chances of it being the case have certainly increased with the news that the developer and publisher have entered a cooperative agreement to make something together and learn from each other.

The agreement will see the duo jointly develop ‘select contents and exchange know-how’. This naturally led to a lot of speculation that Bloober is the Western developer believed to be working on a Silent Hill game (with a Japanese studio making another one), but the language in the statement leaves it a little vague as to exactly what Bloober will be doing for Konami.

You can read Bloober’s full statement on the partnership here.

After the ‘conspiracy’ concerning indie game Abandoned being Silent Hill, this has made a few folks upset online, while others are keenly not into Bloober’s brand of horror, and understandably are a bit touchy about the idea of a Western developer handling Silent Hill again given the ‘erratic’ track record.

If Bloober is going to take on a reboot of the classic psychological horror series, it’d back up its aspirations to be ‘the Blumhouse of horror games‘.
