‘The Descent’ Director Neil Marshall Goes on a Witch Hunt With New Horror Movie ‘The Reckoning’ [Trailer]

RLJE and Shudder recently acquired Neil Marshall’s (Dog Soldiers, The Descent, Doomsday, Hellboy) latest genre offering, The Reckoning, a period horror film set against the backdrop of the Great Plague that takes place during the witch hunts in 17th century England.

In the film, “Evelyn Haverstock (Charlotte Kirk), a young widow, haunted by the recent suicide of her husband Joseph (Joe Anderson), is falsely accused of being a witch by her jealous Landlord, Squire Pendleton (Steven Waddington), after she rejects his unwanted advances.

“Grace must endure physical persecution at the hands of England’s most ruthless witch-hunter Judge Moorcroft (Sean PertweeDog Soldiers, Event Horizon) and face her own inner demons as the Devil himself starts to work his way into her mind.”

The Reckoning will be released first by RLJE Entertainment, before coming to Shudder. Check out the official trailer below, which teases Descent-like creature horrors and more.

Joe Lipsett reviewed the film for BD out of its Fantasia premiere.

The trailer has been removed and we’re told an official one is coming in the next week.
