Update On The Upcoming Blumhouse ‘Exorcist Sequel’

During a recent presentation at the Las Vegas CinemaCon, Blumhouse confirmed that Universal Pictures’ upcoming ‘Exorcist’ sequel will be called The Exorcist: Believer. In the film we will see the return of Ellen Burstyn, with an expected release date of October 13.

Attendees at the convention also witnessed the first footage from the film, and according to a report from Deadline the footage centered around a group of young girls who were found in the woods after going missing for three days. It also teased Burstyn’s appearance as Chris MacNeil. This movie will serve as a direct sequel to the original horror film, was adapted from William Peter Blatty’s novel. Joining Ellen Burstyn are Leslie Odom Jr., Ann Dowd, Raphael Sbarge, and Jennifer Nettles, Lidya Jewett, and Olivia Marcum.
