Joey + Rory first found fame after appearing on CMT’s Can You Duet? in 2008, and they went on to win fans with their down-to-earth personalities, gorgeous harmonies and honest lyrics. On a sadder note, the husband-and-wife duo also earned notoriety due to Joey Feek’s battle with terminal cancer, so for those newer fans of the artists, here’s a quick primer on several of their most unforgettable songs.
“Cheater, Cheater,” Joey + Rory’s very first single, is sassy, scornful … and not in any way based on the Feeks’ marriage! It’s their only song that cracked the country Top 40, and it’s one of their most upbeat and playful.
On the opposite end of the spectrum is “When I’m Gone.” When Joey + Rory recorded the song, they had no way of knowing that the lyrics would be their reality in a few short years.
