George Condo’s ‘Pastels’ to Show at Hauser & Wirth and Sprüth Magers

A two-part exhibition of George Condo’s pastel work, ‘Pastels,’ spanning Sprüth Magers and Hauser & Wirth in New York City, gives an insight into the artist’s creative process and unbounded inventiveness. It is Condo’s intention to test the limits of improvisation within this medium by employing plaster, colorful fields, and dramatic pastel gestures without preparation, all without preparatory sketches—to express various psyche states through these works. Using abstract elements within figural frameworks, the artist materializes the ineffable and fragmented nature of ineffable emotions and thoughts.

The exhibition at Sprüth Magers will run from the 29th of January, 2025 until 1st of March, 2025.

The exhibition at Hauser & Wirth NY will run from the 29th of January, 2025 until 12th of April, 2025.
