It’s been almost four years sinceBetter Call Saul‘s series finale brought theBreaking Bad universe to a bittersweet end, but some of the show’s biggest names suited back up into character for a very important reason.
In a video shared byBCS creator Peter Gould (who also confirmed on his Bluesky feed that it is not AI-generated), Bob Odenkirk reprises his role as Saul Goodman, fit with a loud tie, the Wayfarer 515 memorial ribbon, his U.S. Constitution-themed office wallpaper, and more Easter egg-ish props to celebrate the 250th anniversary of America.
“Hi, I’m Saul Goodman. Did you know you have rights? Well, you do. Sure, they’re old-timey. They were written by a bunch of guys in powdered wigs and knee socks. Boring, but believe it or not, they’re still surprisingly relevant. Your rights include, but are not limited to, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of the press, freedom against unreasonable searches and seizures, et cetera, et cetera…” he says in the video. “Wow, you lucky so and so. Look at you, you got rights coming out the wazoo, all because a whole bunch of good people, 250 years worth, sacrificed everything they had for this awesome wallpaper behind me. Know your rights, and for the love of Mike, don’t ever give them up.”
The mention of Mike isn’t accidental; Jonathan Banks then pops up in one of Mike Ehrmentraut’s signature button-up and light jacket combos to add, “Hi, I’m Mike, and I approve this message.”
Breaking Badboss Vince Gilligan previously speculated that Saul would probably be out of prison after a pardon from Donald Trump, saying on The Rich Eisen Show, “I think Trump pardoned him… I think he’s out, that’s what I think… kinda tracks, doesn’t it?… I think he’s a free man. I think he’s doing infomercials… He’s selling stuff on late-night TV.”
Looks like Gilligan might’ve been right about that, then! Only, instead of selling various wares, Saul’s slinging democracy. Who knew.
