Susan Lucci Finally Won Her Emmy 26 Years Ago Today: Where Is She Now?

If you’re a soap opera fan, then you almost definitely remember Susan Lucci‘s love-to-hate character Erica Kane on the long-running soap All My Childrenand you may also remember Lucci’s long-running losing streak, which saw her nominated for a Daytime Emmy 18 times without a win — and finally taking one home, on the 19th try.

Today is the anniversary of Lucci’s first and only Daytime Emmy win at the 26th Daytime Emmy Awards on May 21, 1999. The announcement was made at the ceremony by actor Shemar Moore, who famously declared, “The streak is over … Susan Lucci!” Though she has not won any more acting Emmys since, in 2023, Lucci was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
