The Gilded Age adds another Tony winner to its midst with Adrienne Warren, set to make her debut in the HBO series in Season 4 this November. TV Insider has your first look at Warren’s character, Ava, as part of our 2026 Fall Preview, which features a collection of exciting new and returning TV shows coming out this season.
Warren won a Tony in 2020 for her portrayal of the late rock legend Tina Turner in the Tina — The Tina Turner Musical on Broadway. Her casting in The Gilded Age Season 4 was previously announced when the trailer and premiere date were revealed in August, but her character details have been unknown until now.
Warren plays Ava, cousin of Peggy Scott (Denée Benton), inThe Gilded Age Season 4, TV Insider has learned. Ava is a singer who showcases her familial and cultural traditions with the Kirklands.
Ava can be seen in splendidGilded Age fashion and accessories from costume designer Kasia Walicka-Maimone in the photo below, where she appears to be in church or at some kind of public outing. Perhaps it’s a speaking engagement for her cousin?

The Gilded Agereturns on Sunday, November 1, at 9/8c on HBO. Warren is among a long list of new cast members, which includes Jim Gaffigan as President Grover Cleveland, Dennis Haysbert as Dr. Reginald Harris,Neal Huff as John D. Rockefeller, James Scully as Lee Klein, Tony winner Bonnie Milligan as Mrs. Knapp Curtis, Tony nominee Taylor Trensch as Oliver, and Maggie Kuntz as Fiona Summers.
Peggy’s life, including her career ambitions and her relationship with Dr. William Kirkland (Jordan Donica), is taking more of a front seat in the fourth season of the Emmy-winning drama. “We’re taking Peggy on this journey of her literary career,” executive producer Sonja Warfield told TV Insider for Fall Preview. To that end, Donica has been promoted to a series regular.
Benton told us that Peggy is “voraciously centering her life around her desire” in Season 4. Donica said that scenes this season offer viewers the chance to see a fuller picture of the Black elite of Brooklyn. “We have problems and struggles just as everybody else,” Donica said, “so let’s show [how we] face that together.”
In Season 4, Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon) changed Society at a cost. Now, her family must reckon with the consequences as Agnes van Rhijn (Christine Baranski) seizes an opportunity to regain her position. Meanwhile, Marian (Louisa Jacobson) forges a new path for herself, and Peggy works to be accepted by her future in-laws. In this new era, you must be careful what you wish for.
