Post Malone performed a rough-edged rendition of Hank Williams’ “My Bucket’s Got a Hole in It” to an intimate crowd at a Nashville honky-tonk late Saturday night. Malone, who has been teasing his country fandom since 2015, popped up at Nashville’s legendary Robert’s Western World to take the stage with Brandon Birkedahl and the band. In a video by the site Whiskey Riff, Malone was also captured performing George Jones‘ “I’m a One Woman Man.”
Malone has seemingly turned up everywhere in Nashville over the last week, including at the Grand Ole Opry, where he performed with Lainey Wilson and Vince Gill, at his own listening party at Loser’s bar in Midtown on Thursday, and at Grimey’s New & Preloved Music on Saturday, where the pickup truck featured on the cover of his new album F-1 Trillion was on display.
Malone collaborated with more than a dozen country music stars on F-1 Trillion, released Aug. 15, including Dolly Parton, Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, and Blake Shelton. Rolling Stone‘s review described the LP as “an irresistibly catchy album of collaborations (of the 18 tracks, 15 feature guests) that, while highlighting Malone’s rebel spirit, has more in common with the safe country-radio fare of today than albums made by disruptors like Simpson or the Waylons and Willies who came before.”
Hours after releasing his country album, Malone released the expanded Long Bed edition, which features nine solo records, including “Dead at the Honky Tonk,” “Ain’t How it Ends,” “Hey Mercedes,” “Who Needs You,” and “Go to Hell.”
During an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Malone opened up about the 18-track album’s final track “Yours,” which serves as a tribute to his two-year-old daughter. Malone told CBS that his daughter and his daughter’s mother helped save his life, while he was on a “rough path.” Malone said he struggled with loneliness and alcohol abuse, adding that he needed the life lesson to better understand himself.
“I don’t feel like that anymore, and it’s the most amazing thing,” Malone said.
