Lovecraftian Survival Horror Game ‘Underworld Dreams: The False King’ Coming to Steam and Switch This Year [Trailer]

We’re always suckers for Lovecraftian video games, and Drop of Pixel’s upcoming Underworld Dreams: The False King is no exception. Based on Lovecraftian Mythos and Robert W. Chambers’ The King in Yellow, the first game in the Underworld Dreams Anthology is expected later this Spring for Steam and the Nintendo Switch. You can now even play the demo!

Set in the 1980s, Underworld Dreams: The False King tells the story of a man who has tracked his missing brother to a seemingly abandoned building that hides a dark secret behind its walls. The game is meant to be a 3-5 hour experience to “set the tone” for future entries.

As mentioned, the game is based on Lovecraft’s works, alongside Robert W. Chambers’ 1895 book of short stories. The False King aims for a psychological horror take, along with a focus on environmental storytelling. The game also incorporates Survival Horror elements and few save points, so you’ll have to be smart about combat.

And if this tickles your fancy, the second game in the anthology, Underworld Dreams, can also be wishlisted on Steam. Much like the first game, Underworld Dreams is a first-person Survival Horror affair that again takes inspiration from Lovecraft, and is set in the 1980s. Underworld Dreams is expected to launch this Summer.
