‘The Northman’: Bill Skarsgård Drops Out of New Robert Eggers Movie Due to “Scheduling Nightmare”

Bill Skarsgård had been set to star alongside his brother Alexander Skarsgård in Robert Eggers‘ (The Witch, The Lighthouse) new movie The Northman, but those plans have unfortunately changed. Speaking with Collider, the IT star says he was forced to drop out.

It’s been a scheduling nightmare during COVID. It is what it is. It’s a big shame. Eggers is one of the great filmmakers out there and working with my brother…I don’t want to talk about it, it’s going to make me burst into tears,” Bill Skarsgård told the site this week.

The known ensemble cast of The Northman at this time includes Nicole KidmanAlexander SkarsgårdAnya Taylor-JoyKate Dickie, Bjork and Willem Dafoe.

The “viking revenge saga” is said to be set in Iceland at the turn of the 10th century.

Eggers wrote the screenplay with Icelandic poet and novelist, Sjón.
