Back in November, it was announced that Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas had written some music for Turning Red, the new Disney and Pixar film that features a fictional boy band called 4*Town. “We needed our character Mei to be obsessed with something that her mom would not approve of,” director Domee Shi explained at the time. “Boy bands were the first step into the world of boys for a lot of girls that age. The guys were all super pretty, polished, soft and loving, and they had of way of bringing girls and their besties together. Plus, I thought it’d be really cool to create an animated boy band.”
Finneas is one of the members of 4*Town, and he also produced their new song ‘Nobody Like U’, which is co-written with Billie Eilish. Ludwig Göransson, who scored the film, is also credited as a recording arranger of the track. Listen to it below.
Turning Red will be released on Disney+ on March 11. The soundtrack, out the same day, feautres two more songs written by Eillish and Finneas: ‘1 True Love’ and ‘U Know What’s Up’. The duo are currently touring in support of Eilish’s sophomore LP Happier Than Ever.
