Chad Powers Season 1 may have ended in 2025, but work on Season 2 has already begun, as showrunner Michael Waldron offered an exciting update about scripts for the Glen Powell-led Hulu comedy. Additionally, the streamer has already unveiled a first look at Powell’s return to set as production kicks off.

Powell reprises his role as disgraced footballer Russ Holliday, a.k.a. Chad Powers, for another shot at glory. As fans saw, the series left its titular character’s fate in limbo after [Spoiler] Ricky (Perry Mattfeld) uncovered his true identity. While the cast had expressed hope for the show’s future (after all, six episodes isn’t nearly enough), Season 2’s renewal surely thrilled the team behind this comedy as well as its fans. Series co-creator and showrunner Michael Waldron hinted that Season 2 ideas already existed when TV Insider caught up with him. “We’ve got a lot of ideas about where to take it, and how it will all wrap up, so hopefully we get to take the story the whole way,” Waldron teases. “I hope audiences will respond, and we’ll get to see where it all goes.”

Chad Powers Season 2 has officially started filming, according to a social media post shared to the show’s official accounts. “Put your game face on. #ChadPowers Season 2 is now in production. Coming soon to Hulu and with #HuluonDisneyPlus,” an image of Powell in character was captioned. The photo offers fans their first glimpse at Season 2 as well, even if Powell’s turned away from the camera. We can’t help but wonder what the Chad mask he’s holding will be all about…

Additionally, Waldron teasedsome writing progress by sharing a photo of the script on his Instagram story. The photo also reveals Season 2’s premiere episode title, “7th Quarter.”

What wouldChad PowersSeason 2 be about?

Chad Powers Season 1 concluded with a major cliffhanger as [Spoiler] Ricky was torn about publicly exposing Russ after learning he’d lied about his true identity. In turn, Russ threatened that by exposing his involvement, Ricky would jeopardize the entire football season and her dad, Coach Hudson’s (Steve Zahn) reputation. While no official logline for Season 2 has been released, we’d imagine the next chapter would likely pick up where things left off, but keep an eye out for any news on that end.
